Our consultants provide mediation, advocacy and research services in the following areas:
Mediation
Our formal mediation process is straightforward and engages both parties in the process to reach an agreement. First, the mediator will meet with both parties together for an introduction and to lay out the ground rules by which the parties will be expected to adhere to establish open communication. Next, will be the statement of the problem by the parties. Information is then gathered by the mediator and after the problems are clearly identified, the parties will begin the process of bargaining and generating options before reaching an agreement to resolve the dispute.
Advocacy
Advocacy services differ from mediation, in that, as an advocate the consultant works on behalf of a specific party to communicate that parties concerns. Often people involved in conflict become emotionally invested in their perspective and lack the ability to communicate effectively in a manner that would resolve the conflict. As a non-lawyer citizen advocate our consultants are hired to represent the client’s interest during informal discussions and negotiations which do not require court intervention. Typically, the client is present and the consultant acts merely as their voice during proceedings. The advocate is not allowed to make decisions which might affect the outcome of the proceedings without direct written consent of the client.
Research
Research services are designed to assist clients with information gathering to support their interest in a particular matter. Research is generally comprised of information in the public domain, which is available through a variety of sources including physical and online resources.
